Hutchies pride themselves on their standard of workmanship and professionalism, ensuring that this is not compromised, they work only with contractors who align with these values.
AMA were contracted by Hutchies to work on the Brisbane Skytower project. Having worked with AMA on many previous projects, Hutchies were confident on AMA being an integral part of the team. With stunning views, world-class amenities and exceptional location, Brisbane Skytower has been described as the symbol of the Brisbane skyline. The brand-new Brisbane Skytower boasts 1,138 high class, self-contained apartments and is located in the middle of Brisbane’s CBD at 222 Margaret Street. The building offers a new superior product for everyone visiting Brisbane, whether for a holiday, or that all-important corporate function.
AMA completed all pool and stairs balustrading and architectural aluminium screens throughout the project, as well as a feature finished handrail. Lynden Watson, Project Manager at Hutchinson Builders said, “The team at AMA are exceptional to work with. AMA were always on time with deadlines and backed us throughout the entire process to help us succeed.”
On the Skytower project, the client was very particular about the finish of the stair handrails on the entry ramp and it was crucial that AMA got this right. Because of the length of time, it took to paint the handrails, AMA pre-fabricated all of the handrails and shipped them to Sydney to a company called Axolotl. The team at Axolotl applied a “Treasury Bronze Pseudo Smooth Pearl Patina” paint finish to the handrails and then shipped them back to be installed.
Whilst the handrails were in Sydney, Hutchies built the ramp. Then when the rails came back to Skytower they were installed. The process was a great success as the handrails all fitted the building perfectly on their return, which Sam Bevis from AMA said, “Wasn’t easy.” He explained, “The handrails were curved and raked, which is effectively spiralled, so pre-fabricating these to ensure they would fit after the painting process required high levels of accuracy”.
Lynden Watson said that they wanted to work with AMA on this project because “Sam and the Team at AMA are the experts in all things aluminium and balustrading. Their experience in the industry allowed them to quickly resolve any issue through alternative design or manufacture”.
Lynden went on to say, “We are very happy with the end product the team delivered. I already have AMA on my next project and I always would and do refer AMA to other project teams”.
